Did you ever know loneliness?  Did you ever know need?
Do you remember just how long a night can get?
When you were barely holding on?  And your friends fall asleep?
And don’t see the blood that’s running in your sweat?
Will those who mourn be left uncomforted?
While you’re up there just playing hard to get.

  1. sometimes i wonder what it was that kept rich mullins firm in the christian faith.  i wouldn’t really consider his songs to be straight praise and worship songs.  by that, i mean his lyrics are not (if ever) about “god loves to bless us!  he loves us!  god has delivered me and has given me so much joy.”  all the songs that i have heard from him are more in-the-process as i like to call it.  rich sings about the loneliness and sadness of life.  i can’t think of any song of his where he sings about the result of something.  this has just made me curious to know more about his life.
